Cholesterol pericarditis; successful treatment by pericardiectomy.

چکیده
Although cholesterol pericarditis is usually associated with mynxedema, it may occur as a result of tuberculous infection or hemopericardium. Cardiac constriction is apparently an uncommnon feature of the condition. A case of chronic constrictive cholesterol pericarditis was treated by pericardiectomy with complete relief of symptoms. Neither bacteriologic nor histologic studies of the rese(ted pericardium revealed the etiologic basis for cholesterol accumulation within the penicardial sac.

We here report a successful midterm outcome following combined off-pump radical pericardiectomy and coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in a 65-year-old male patient who was suffering from chronic constrictive calcified tubercular pericarditis with coronary artery disease. Simultaneous off-pump CABG and radical pericardiectomy for nonsurgical constrictive pericarditis is reported very rarely ...
متن کاملConstrictive pericarditis after myocardial infarction.
Constrictive pericarditis developed in a 55 year old man two years after transmural myocardial infarction complicated by severe acute pericarditis. Pericardiectomy was successful. Although this very rare late complication of myocardial infarction has been reported as a sequela of frank anticoagulant induced haemopericardium, in this case there was no clinical evidence of such an association.
متن کاملPulsatile hepatomegaly in constrictive pericarditis.
In a study of 30 consecutive patients with constrictive pericarditis diagnosed by clinical, radiological, and echocardiographic criteria 21 (70%) were found to have pulsatile hepatomegaly. The pulsations were felt clinically and confirmed by external hepatic recordings. These pulsations conformed almost identically to the jugular venous pulsations in the neck. The hepatic pulsations disappeared...
